The New Era of Obesity Treatment

Treating obesity is about more than losing weight; it’s about improving overall health, quality of life, and long-term well-being. Dan Azagury, MD, FACS, and Michelle Hauser, MD, MS, MPA, will explore lifestyle changes, GLP-1 medications, bariatric surgery, and who may benefit from each approach.

Dan Azagury, MD, FACS, is the Section Chief of Minimally Invasive & Bariatric Surgery program and serves as the Medical Director of the Weight Loss Management Program. Dr. Azagury treats people living with obesity and tailors personalized plans that can include weight-loss medications and bariatric surgery. His research focuses on improving outcomes and developing new tools for obesity treatment.

Michelle Hauser, MD, MS, MPA, FACP, FACLM, DipABLM, DABOM, Chef, is clinical associate professor of medicine, General Surgery and Obesity Medicine Director at Stanford Medicine, and President-elect of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM). She is board-certified in internal medicine, lifestyle medicine, and obesity medicine. She is course director for the Stanford Culinary Medicine course upon which her Culinary Medicine Curriculum is based. Beyond delivering patient care and medical education, Dr. Hauser is a prevention researcher and Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef. She combines her skills to help patients move away from lifestyles that lead to chronic disease and toward those that promote health and well-being.
