Strawberry Celebration at the Stanford Educational Farm

Summer is strawberry season! These sweet and juicy jewels of summer are perfect in an ice-cold lemonade, smothered in a blanket of whipped cream, or just popped into your mouth straight from the garden. They are not only tasty – they are also packed with vitamin C, rich in antioxidants, and full of fiber, making them the perfect nutrient-rich snack.

Join us for a hands-on workshop celebrating the wonders of this delicious, nutritious fruit! We’ll learn about some of the different types of strawberries and how to grow them, then do a taste test to compare the size, flavors, and textures of the different varieties. We’ll also explore recipes for new and interesting ways to capture that unique strawberry goodness. At the end of class, you will have the opportunity to create your own strawberry treat to take home and enjoy.

This class will meet in person at the O’Donohue Stanford Educational Farm on Stanford campus. This class will also be offered as a webinar on Tuesday, August 20, from 5-6:30 pm.

Instructor: Anna Lee is a lecturer in the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability. She is a Master Composter and a Master Food Preserver for San Mateo County and holds an advanced certificate in ecological horticulture from the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems at UC Santa Cruz and an MS in agroecology from University of Wisconsin, Madison.
