Intro to Nature Journaling

Nature journaling is a peaceful activity to help you unwind, slow down, and find wonder and joy in the little things. It is also a meditative activity that emphasizes the process over the product. It is about noticing and recording what piques our curiosity using words, pictures, and numbers.

Join us for a hands-on workshop on Stanford campus that will help you hone your close observation skills, practice being curious on purpose, and deepen your relationship with nature through nature journaling.

We’ll engage with some icebreaker activities in our sketchbook and learn some foundational prompts and techniques to tap into our sense of awe in nature before finding our own sit-spots to journal in. We will end by coming together for a journal share. You will leave this class with some prompts and tools to help you get started and continue on your own afterwards.

No prior art or writing experience is necessary—this activity is meant for everyone. All materials are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own sketchbook and writing and drawing supplies if you’d like.

This is an in-person class and will not be recorded.

Attendance at the live session is required to receive incentive points.
