Why it matters?

Self-advocacy involves speaking up for yourselves or communicating our needs and boundaries to those around us. It lets people know how we expect to be treated. Self-advocacy sets the stage for increased feelings of wellbeing and decreased feelings of burnout. But doing so can be a challenge at times, especially if you’re not accustomed to making your voice heard.

Advocating for yourself at work, home, school and in your healthcare journey can reap rewards—from more satisfying relationships to better medical outcomes.

Come along as we explore ways to advocate for yourself in everyday situations.
