Our interdisciplinary conference brings together academics, practitioners, and policymakers to exchange knowledge and ideas concerning the rural West. With a focus on catalyzing scholarship and solutions for the region's pressing challenges, our annual gathering serves to expand the network of individuals and organizations committed to addressing rural policy, health, and environmental issues.

This year’s conference, themed “People and Places: Unlocking the Central Valley’s Potential in California’s Climate Future” explore the Central Valley’s crucial role in addressing climate change and its broader implications for rural communities. The program will include panels on renewable energy and carbon removal, transitions on working lands, climate and health, innovation in agriculture, and groundwater recharge issues.

For program details and updates, please visit our event webpage, where we will continuously provide further information as our planning progresses.

We hope you can join us to discuss the critical issues facing rural communities in the American West. Please feel free to contact Tina Lathia at vlathia@stanford.edu if you have questions about the panels or the conference in general.

Thank you for considering our invitation. We eagerly anticipate your response and the opportunity to engage with you at the Eleventh Annual Eccles Family Rural West Conference.
