Cohen, the answer is deceptively simple: belonging. Join us on Wed. December, 3rd, 2025 from 4-5pm at Levinthal Hall of the Stanford Humanities Center. Join us for a thought-provoking conversation with Professor Cohen as he shares insights from his acclaimed book, Belonging: The Science of Creating Connection and Bridging Divides. Hosted by the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, Office of Access, Belonging, & Community, the sit-down conversation and Q&A will be moderated by Assistant Dean Lupe Carrillo.

?Geoffrey Cohen is a professor of psychology and the James G. March Professor of Organizational Studies in Education and Business at Stanford University. 

?Drawing on decades of groundbreaking research, Cohen reveals how small yet powerful actions—like affirming core values, expressing belief in someone’s potential, or creating spaces of respect—can dramatically shift outcomes in schools, workplaces, communities, and beyond. His work demonstrates how fostering belonging not only bridges divides and reduces prejudice but also boosts achievement, health, and well-being.
