CBD 2023: iPause Guided practice #2, Breathing Practices for Mental Health and Well-being, David Spiegel
Brief breathwork exercises such as cyclic sighing and self-hypnosis stress management exercises will be demonstrated. The capacity to rapidly regulate somatic response to stressors by inducing self-soothing physical responses — ‘rest and digest’ rather than ‘fight or flee’— will be explored. A cognitive mindset of focusing on what you are for rather than fighting what you are against will be presented as an additional stress management technique.
This workshop is part of a three-part series offered by David Spiegel, MD, as part of the annual Stanford Contemplaion by Design Summit. Attendees are encouraged to reigster for one or all of the following sessions:
– The Mental Health Benefits of Breathwork and Self-Hypnosis with David Spiegel on Oct. 24,
and
-The Role of Interoceptive and Exteroceptive Stimulation in the Enhancement of Health. Contemplating the Body as a Means of Modulating Brain Circuits, David Spiegel, MD, and Manuela Kogon, MD on Nov. 1.
