A Global Health Conversation with Dr. Patty J. García

Join us for a global health conversation with Dr. Patty J. García, an internationally recognized global health leader who has advanced health equity in her home country of Peru for over a decade, including through the pandemic.

Dr. García is a professor at the School of Public Health at Cayetano Heredia University (UPCH) in Lima-Peru, and member of the US National Academy of Medicine as well as former Minister of Health of Peru, former Dean of the School of Public Health at UPCH, and former Chief of the Peruvian National Institute of Health (INS). During the pandemic, she led clinical trials in Peru and chaired the advising governmental committee on innovations to fight the pandemic. She was the first Peruvian to be elected to the US National Academy of Medicine.

With an introduction by Dr. Michele Barry, Director of Stanford’s Center for Innovation in Global Health, Dr. García will speak with Stanford Medicine’s Paul Costello about her life and work advancing health equity and forging a path for female leadership in Latin America.
