Session Description
This presentation will review the epidemiology of antibacterial resistance in the United States as well as novel diagnostics to ensure patients are placed on appropriate antibiotic therapy as early as possible in their treatment course. 

Education Goals
To understand the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance in the United States. 
Understand the role of antibiotic stewardship programs in reducing the emergence of resistance. 
Understand novel diagnostics and treatment approaches to ensure patients are placed on early and appropriate antibiotic therapy.
