Nature as Medicine
Most of us live our lives disconnected from the natural world. One study found that 93% of our time is spent in buildings or vehicles, and another showed that 79% of adults rarely or never smell wildflowers. Scientific research has shown that this disconnection can have a negative effect on our mental and physical health, creating a nature deficit disorder leading to medical and mental health problems, and that intentional steps to experience the natural world can meaningfully improve well-being and personal medical health.
In this noontime webinar, you will discover how nature may work as medicine, both for you personally and for the public health. We will review evidence-based studies on nature-based interventions, identifying both a research agenda and particular health benefits to specific interventions, including virtual reality nature. You will learn about changes in the brain that occur when walking in nature, how tree leaves may improve immunity, how houseplants and trees may be effective air purifiers, and gardening to improve immunity. Walk away with specific strategies you can use in your daily life to use nature experiences to enhance your health, wellness, and planetary health.
This webinar is only available at the scheduled date and time.
