International Conference on the Future of Medical Education

November 22, 2021 | 6:30pm - 11:30pm

The COVID-19 Pandemic has revealed a critical need for reforms in the current medical educational system to provide affordable, accessible, comprehensive, compassionate, and culturally sensitive healthcare to all, especially to underserved populations. This conference brings together leading medical education experts from different countries to share ideas and programs that can facilitate national and international reforms in the format, scope, structure, funding, evaluation, and access to medical education.

Sessions 1 and 2 focus on undergraduate medical education, postgraduate training and research. Invited speakers will outline the latent and glaring deficiencies in the current educational system, its dependence on the commercialization of medical practice and healthcare delivery, a substantial variability in the quality, completeness, and criteria to demonstrate the competencies and entrustable professional abilities of its graduates. Innovative approaches will be presented to overcome these deficiencies and to build a system that is more uniform, free from commercial or vested interests.

Session 3 outlines the contributions of Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine systems, examine the advantages, difficulties, and challenges of the interactions between Western Medicine and traditional systems that preceded its advent, and provide pathways for the integrative training of future medical professionals.

Session 4 promotes comprehensive training in the social, psychological, emotional, cultural, and spiritual aspects of medical care, to make medical education more diverse and inclusive, while using technology to expand the accessibility and affordability of healthcare to the most underserved populations.

Distinguished keynote speakers will emphasize the teaching of palliative care at the end of life and outline the key initiatives required to build a future medical education system dedicated to the people it serves. This unique, cutting-edge conference is suitable for physicians, surgeons, educators, general medical practitioners or specialists, researchers, health policy experts, medical school administrators, and allied health professionals from all cultures and countries.
