Flourishing Through Nature-Based Meditations
For millennia, people have found refuge and resilience by practicing contemplative meditation in nature. This transformative combination supports joy, peace, a sense of belonging, wisdom, nourishment, and ease.
In this 5-session online engagement class, you will be guided to live intimately in open-hearted relationship with the natural life around you. Taking inspiration from the documentary My Octopus Teacher, you will develop a variety of mindfulness-based nature meditation practices that train you to be present to your inner and outer experience with clarity, receptivity, and wise compassion.
The practices provided in class are designed to be done anywhere you can connect with nature, including your garden, your porch, or while arranging flowers or fruit in a container. Whether your home is in the middle of a city or alongside the woods, the insights and practices offered will bring you more alive to thrive in being your wise, vibrant self.
Please watch the documentary My Octopus Teacher prior to the first class, available on Netflix. No previous meditation experience is required.
Instructor: Tia Rich, PhD, is the founder and director of Contemplation by Design. She has been integrating contemplative practice into resilience, stress management, and career training programs and academic classes at Stanford University and Medical Center since 1984.
