Create Your Own Home Workout
The physical, mental, and emotional benefits of exercise cannot be understated. No matter who you are or where you are in your life, cardiovascular fitness is an important component of overall physical health. Some of the big wins from doing cardio activity are lower risk of chronic diseases, better sleep, weight management, improved cognition, and management of the negative effects of stress. Yet many people struggle to incorporate enough cardio activity into their life.
In this interactive online class, you will learn why incorporating moderate to vigorous cardio activity is so important for your overall health. Explore answers to questions such as what is the recommended amount, where do I begin, and how can I improve what I’m already doing?
No matter what your current fitness level is, you’ll learn how to design an effective cardio activity program that you can do at home. This class will include demos of simple, effective cardio activities you can use as building blocks and real-world scenarios to help you create a customized home workout that works for you.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move and supportive athletic shoes to join in the demos. Please have on hand a filled water bottle and a towel.
Instructor: Jerrie Thurman, MA, is a senior wellness program manager and certified wellness coach for Stanford BeWell. She has degrees in exercise physiology and education and 35 years of experience as a certified fitness instructor.
