Create Your Own Home Workout – Strength Training 101

August 09, 2021 | 12:00pm - 1:00pm

Strength training is an important component to overall physical health. Research shows that resistance training over a lifespan leads to higher physical performance and ability as we age, while a lack of resistance training can lead to low function, loss of independence, falls, and disability. Yet many people struggle to incorporate a strength training regimen into their activity plan. Stanford is no exception. According to the 2020 SHALA data, only 37% of Stanford employees met the recommended requirements for strength training.

In this noontime webinar, you will learn why incorporating strength training is so important for your overall health and how to put together a basic and balanced full-body strength training program at home. This webinar will include demos of simple, effective exercises you can use as building blocks and real-case scenarios to help you create a customized home strength workout that works for you.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move and join in the action. Please bring a pair of free weights, filled water bottles, canned foods, or something with weight. This class is suitable for all fitness levels.

This webinar is only available at the scheduled date and time.
