Breaking the Burnout Cycle

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It reduces your productivity and saps your energy, leaving you feeling increasingly helpless, hopeless, cynical, and resentful. Because the negative effects of burnout can spill over into every area of life, it is important to recognize the early signs of burnout and take steps to manage your stress and restore your well-being.

In this webinar, you will gain knowledge about scientific research on burnout, learn how to recognize whether you are experiencing symptoms of burnout, and discover techniques you can use to break the burnout cycle. We will review strategies to manage life’s inevitable stressors in a way that allows you to retain your health, good humor, and sanity despite the many obstacles that you may encounter along the way.

Instructor: Deborah Balfanz, PhD, is a health behavior change educator and a wellness coach for Stanford BeWell.  She has been helping individuals make sustainable lifestyle changes since coming to Stanford in 2002.
