Stanford Libraries De-Stress Fest
Dog Petting • Music • Arts & Crafts • Gaming • And More!
In addition to the invaluable librarian support and awesome study spots sought after during this time of year, Stanford students are encouraged to drop by the Stanford Libraries just to de-stress.
Students are invited to stop by the many Stanford Libraries to participate in some stress-reducing activities before and during finals. Some of the libraries are hosting special morning coffee and snacks, dog petting dates, and karaoke. Other libraries have decided to designate areas within their buildings for games, puzzles, arts and crafts, and/or are pulling together specially selected novels for those who wish to take a break from studying to read. Find below some of the events being hosted at the Libraries:
May 25 – June 12 Cubberley Education Library (During open hours)
Cubberley will have specially selected young adult novels of all flavors for students wishing to take a break during their studying and writing.
June 7, 1:00 – 3:00 pm The David Rumsey Map Center, Green Library 4th floor
Take a walk to the fourth floor of Green Library where you can check out the Oculus Rift stations. Users can view a 1739 map of Paris in a virtual reality movie, explore the world like never before with Google Earth VR, or interact with the brand new Oculus Touch via Oculus First Contact.
June 7, 3:00 – 6:00 pm Green Library
Green Library will host an arts and crafts party, and will provide some friendly video game competition. Table activities including games, puzzles, playdough and more will be available inside Green Library East throughout the event, and will be available after event-hours.
Additionally, our favorite four-legged friends will stop by Green around 4:00pm for a little TLC.
Refreshments and giveaways will be provided as well.
June 8, 3:00 – 4:00 pm Engineering Library
The Engineering Library is pleased to have therapy dogs again this quarter. Please join us in the Y2E2 Courtyard from 3-4pm. Dog and owner teams from Pet Partners will be providing relaxation and stress relief.
June 8, 4:30 – 6:30 pm East Asia Library, room 224
Karaoke at Lathrop. Join your host, Vanessa Kam, Head of the Bowes Art & Architecture Library for a communal and cathartic karaoke singing session! All are welcome.
